Using The BALSAMS Lager
Balsams Lager Bread
Prep time: 1 hour
Yields: 12 servings
Ingredients
5 cups all purpose flour
3 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 cups sour cream, 12 ounces
5 tablespoons sugar
12 ounces Balsams Lager
1 tablespoon butter, melted
Procedure
Combine the sifted flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Blend well.
Combine the sour cream and beer and mix thoroughly. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet. Do not overmix. Grease a 2 1/2 quart baking dish or loaf pan of similar size. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Pour mixture into pan and bake for 40-45 minutes.
Remove and brush top with the melted butter. Return to oven and bake 15 minutes longer, or until browned and sounds "hollow" when tapped.
